Rich Internet Applications (RIA) using Adobe AIR™

Here at MCW Software we have developed many custom applications. The one in this article was developed by our outstanding developers Phong Pham and Mike Merchant using Flex™ technology and deployed using the Adobe AIR™ platform. This product will be available for purchase in the near future at www.foodsoftware.com.

There are many cool features in the Adobe AIR platform, one of which is the use of cross-platform technology. This makes your programs and files available on any computer running Adobe AIR. Think about it, working on a file while at home can be saved and re-opened on another computer and even on another operating system by simply using software built on Adobe AIR. Another highlight you will find in the video talks about the updating of the rendered text in the data grid after clicking on a cell. This feature will allow you to see the actual value after clicking on the cell. One of my other favorite features is the ability to print and view in PDF format. With a little research and code manipulation our developers were able to provide the ability to browse for location of the saved PDF file instead of the normal static location. You will see more of this in the video.
